This film seems to concentrate on the player than the game, and consists purely of trick shots by a skilled player. Filmed very
amateurishly probably from a phone, although the player (Mike Massey) is very skilled, i don't want my film to look anything like this.

5 Year old Pool Prodigy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7B1NhceHEg
This video didn't inspire me as much, although some camera shots are nicely thought out, it more impressed me at the sheer talent of such a young boy. That said, of course my video wont be in a documentary style as this one was, but i will take influence from certain ideas such as the opening shot sequence, which i thought was filmed very well, with a interesting use of camera angles. I think that my film won't be much like this one, as they are ultimately a different style of film making.

Music

After looking through many instrumental music works by various artists. I decided i liked the idea of a bit more rock in it, so searching again i found this piece made by Miika Mettiainen. I like it as it seems exciting, epic, perhaps a bit cheesy but none the less i think it will work very well.

Sin City Movie Trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0PDOQglpDQ
This trailer i was inspired by not just by the clear unique colour scheme used in the film, (which i would be tempted to replicate, and have the pool table in colour, or at least hugely stand out in some way) But also for its sound. I like how the music starts softer, speeds up through excitement and then drops down again. I also like how it times extremely well, for example, when the car rolls of the edge. It fits perfectly and makes the audience much more engaged with the video because it holds there attention throughout.

Although this mans skills are incredible, unfortunately the camera work and choice of song/music doesn't make watching the piece all that exciting. Obviously the camera had to stay in the same place, or the whole thing could very easily be staged, but i feel in my 1 minute video, it should be more engaging to watch, and not as centred around a highly skilled player.

Equilibrium

This film i got inspiration from not for the fight sequence, but for the costume design by Joseph A. Porro. The plain colours in the whole costume for each individual quickly allows the audience see the difference between hero and villain. I feel this kind of approach is vital, especially as the two actors in our film are twins, i fell its very important costume will tell us apart.

Sherlock Holmes stunt training
We watched this to help with the stunt coordination and
choreography for our film. As the hits
are real in this, I see that it is vital ours must as well, whenever necessary.
I can foresee that if the stunts are clearly faked, it will inevitably ruin the
effect and sequence.
300
For our mental fight sequence, wanted it too look visually
different than the reality in film. In 300, the use of low saturation, and
harsh lighting and contrast we thought
would be a good look to go for, this fight also uses slow motion, but as far as
I can tell it’s more to look cool than engaging with the story.
Sherlock Holmes; a Game of Shadows fight sequence
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buE_jLEZrf4
I also like this scene, from Sherlock Holmes; A Game of
Shadows. I like this for it is unlike the other fight sequences in the Sherlock
Holmes series. This has a twist, our hero is challenged both mentally and
physically, where his opponent can predict his next move also. This gives the
audience a fresh, exciting view to which they haven’t witnessed before.

Sherlock Holmes fight scene
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGCMfprPJoA
I like this fight scene for its originality. A lot of action sequences have used slow motion, but i feel this one stands out as it connects to the characters mentality in the fight. It feels less like its trying to impress the audience with special effects and 'cool visuals' but actually relates to the character and story. I also like the music in the fight, and how it stops suddenly on punch for impact. This i feel also adds to the character.

Dave Hill
Dave Hill uses multiple layers of Photoshop using photography
to create movie-like stills, often to create impossible shots, and/or combing
famous persons to be places that they cannot be to create his desired shot. His
work has a very Hollywood style to it, with blockbuster movies clearly have
influence on his work. It is a very impressive
and original portfolio of work which I aspire to have the ability to create.
