All these trailers use common themes and styles of advertising.
The orchestral music, the use text over imagery, and excessively describing the
expressing emotion of the film. The screen is usually 1.37:1, (1.33.1) previous
to the early 1930’s) which is almost square, in comparison to the modern
widescreens. The blacks and whites are not very contrasted, more toned under a
greyscale. Also to note due to the time the monsters are always actors in costumes
and made in practical effects. These I feel are the key elements to remember
when designing my own trailer.
