Context of Practice Seminar 1

Today was our first seminar and we first started by going over the seminar program and having a brief look at what we would be discussing in each seminar.  We then looked at 2 videos so that we could compare and contrast them. The first was Jiri Trnka, The Hand from 1965 and the second Duscan Vukotic and Zagreb, Surogat (Ersatz) from 1961.

We were then set a task to write a 500 word essay comparing and contrasting different points in these two animations, mainly looking at: 
- Technology/Production values
- Colour and light
- Context and symbolism
- Historical and contextual factors
- Relationship to the soundtrack
- Function, and fitness for purpose
- Target Audience and how it is communicated with them
