Analyising video game Machinima and the effect it has on the story - Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain is a a game that doesn't really use cut scenes, and doesn't really use gameplay is the usual sense, as it combines both. It uses film like camera angles in the game, and allows users to control what the characters say and do in what usually would be a cinematic, giving a new level of interaction and producing different outcomes for the game. If this is in an action scene, the gameplay depends on how quickly users press certain buttons reflecting characters reflexes and the outcome of the fight. Heavy Rain is a very good game as it has an incredibly good story that users can change as they play as the game contains different ending. the interactivity in action scenes and more delicate emotional scenes allow user to portray each charatcer the way they want. So Heavy Rain really trends the line between machima and game, as is uses film techniques (camera angles, a more film like script and lighing) all in a game enviroment, but is interactive for users, almost like a playable film in a sense. It is fantastic and original, and even used motion capture technology usually used in films to make the characters movements and expressions more natural.
