Strange Company: Steve vs Tree

In this piece, the Strange Company uses a 'Hollywood grade’ motion cap system applied to a mine craft character and scene. Though I am not a fan of Mine craft, the movements here a clearly shown as fluid and well executed, working surprisingly well despite the block like character, who would usually move in a far more obviously animated style.

The film is impressive, in my opinion only for its use on film equipment in a game environment for film purposes. It really blends the two worlds of film, game, and animation well proving the similarities and opportunities between said media. As a story and humor, I find it weak seemingly only relating to a Minecraft user's first experience on the game, confused about what to do, which unfortunately doesn't relate to me.  The film, made to display the technological uses of motion cap, however, works brilliantly and I find it no coincidence the company used such cubic characters to display this.
