I started by looking at various designs of panda's in different media, firstly at Nicolas Marlet's concept designs for Kung Fu Panda. His crisp, distinctive style offers a clear insight to the characters appearance and somewhat personality, through various drawings of body language and expressions. This I feel is the paramount way into character design, as it covers all aspects of the character.
