Pitching to Image

After I heard that Image were taking Pitch reviews at Thought Bubble, I really wanted to try and quickly pull together enough work to have a change at gaining a seat with Eric Stephenson, especially after Lee Townsend's feedback. As we had just returned from MCM, we didn't have much time so we immediately got to work. I saw the text at this web address (https://thoughtbubblefestival.wordpress.com/ - accessed 9/11/2014) which said:

"Image Comics Pitch Reviews with Eric Stephenson
Venue TBC, Times vary, Free with Saturday/Weekend convention pass, free for under-12s, but an accompanying ticket-holding adult must be present, all ages
This year we are delighted to announce that Image Comics will once again be reviewing pitches for new series at Thought Bubble!
Because of time constraints, the format for reviews will be as follows: Your pitch must be emailed in advance, and if you’re selected, you’ll be called back for a full review by Publisher of Image Comics Eric Stephenson.
Please submit your portfolio to portfolioreviews@thoughtbubblefestival.com by 5pm, Friday 7th November. A confirmation email will be sent before the convention specifying times/location for successful applicants."

So I visited the Image website to see what they expect in a pitch. It tells as so at this link: https://imagecomics.com/about/submissions

We quickly got working on pages, and produced these adapted from the comics we had roughly drawn and shown at MCM. The thing we immediately disliked was our choice of text, but at we were running out of time we didn't have much choice.

Unfortunately, our pitch wasn't accepted. Though it was disheartening we knew we had to figure out why, as we are used to constructive criticism but here we received none, as understandably Image can't get back to every portfolio. So we decided to bring these pages with us to Thought Bubble to get feedback from artists, writers and publishers to understand how to improve our work.
