Analyising video game Machinima and the effect it has on the story - Assassin Creed

The Assassin's Creed franchise is one that in my opinion, uses poor machinima. The graphics are the same quality as the gameplay flowing nicely between levels, but are very long and repetitive, with poor voice over work making them boring. Players can choose to skip them, but if they do so it becomes difficult to complete the next task as you don't know what it is you are meant to be doing, nor the story of the game. The gameplay is excellent, but unfortunately because of the cinematics I am completely put off by the franchise, as they simply drag on far longer than necessary.  A nice feature is that the dialogue from the cinematics often begins or ends in gameplay, merging them but as all players can do while listening is walk around it becomes pointless to have that little control you are offered.

This I find frustrating because the stealth and action and free running are really fun and the gameplay very enjoyable. The game I would like if not for these lengthy, distracting and dull cinematics that appear too often in the game, but are essential to understand the story and mission objectives, which for me ruins it.
